The silly season is nearly upon us, so I thought I’d add to the Ultimate Gift Wrapping Kit that I made in July with this Christmas Edition. These add nicely to your already existing kit and you can mix and match your gift wrapping (like using brown paper or neon twine) with any of these shared below.
What to put in your kit:
- Gold Star Shaped Box – You can see how I made this gold box here – great for food gifts
- Christmas Patterned Pillow Box – I got these at Ikea for $1.49 each – great for all kinds of gifts – an easy wrapping solution
- Christmas Patterned Gift Bags – I got this at Ikea for $3.99 for 2 – great for last minute gift wrapping and comes with white tissue paper inside
- Green Tin – You can see how I made this green tin here – a great idea for baked gifts
- Christmas Wrapping Paper – This wrapping paper was $3.99 for 5metres at Ikea – for cute gifts (maybe even from Santa)
- Gold Tissue Paper – I received these in other gifts, but gold is a great modern festive colour and is great for delicate gifts
- Curling Ribbon – Great for adding to any wrapping including brown paper wrap – I can’t remember the price of the red, but the green spool was $4.99 from a party supplies shop
- Gift Tags – These are vintage ones my Mum bought in the late 70s early 80s, but gift tags are great for labeling presents without having to give everyone a card
- Christmas Cards – It’s kind of gone out of fashion to send Christmas Cards but I’m going to make an effort to send some this year. These are Save the Children one from Ikea $10 for a 10 pack
- Sticky dots – These are great for making Christmas tree designs on your wrapping. You can colour them in or buy them in green from an office supplies store like Officeworks
- Christmas Stacking Tins – These are great for all kinds of baked goods or for spoiling someone with wrapped lollies (candy) – These were a set of 3 from Ikea for $5.99
- Washi Tape in Christmas Colours – Washi tape is great for decorating wrapping and envelopes – these were a gift but the gorgeous Little Paper Lane stocks them
- Christmas Duct Tape – This is great for adding a quick festive touch to brown paper wrap – This was $4.99 for a 10yard roll at Officeworks (it’s Scotch Duck Tape in Flakey)
- Chalkboard labels – You can see how I made them here – great for gift labels or for adding to a tin of baked goodies
- Gift Boxes in different sizes – Gift boxes are great for wrapping fragile or special things that need a little more support or just as a quick wrapping idea – a cheeky idea is to add theatre tickets or a gift card to a bigger gift box with tissue paper and let them have fun unwrapping – add a ribbon with a bow to finish
- Fun Christmas Novelty Tin – These are so fun if you can find them – this was a Christmas gift from my childhood that I’ve always kept – it was filled with Kool Mints if I remember correctly – if I spot any, I’ll let you know where you can get them
A lot of these take some of the stress out of wrapping things for Christmas as they’re ready for you to just add your gift, which is great if you have a whole bunch of people to buy for or you’re just don’t want to spend a lot of time wrapping things. The tapes, ribbons and stickers add a nice touch and the Christmas Cards are great if you’re sending something far away and want to add more than just their name.

It will make things feel just that little less stressful when it’s time to wrap all the things. will have to pull out my xmas wrapping bag thingy out and see what I need to restock. Ive had some of those star boxes floating around for years but I never seem to have any presents that fit in them
I hope you found all you needed, Melissa! I find the star boxes are great for individually wrapped chocolates like the Lindt balls as a quick gift! They also make fun table centrepieces. :)
