Today I wanted to share a fun way that I keep things that inspire me close at hand when I’m working. This would also be a great way to showcase children’s artwork or even important articles or tickets that you need to remember. It’s simple to set up and is easily changed as your inspiration does.
What you’ll need:
- Pins (Push pins/thumbtacks/whatever you call them) I got mine from Smiggle
- Twine Mine is cooking twine I found new for $1 at the op-shop
- Mini Pegs I got mine from Kikki-K a couple of years back
- Pictures, Prints, Tickets, etc for hanging
Choose a wall that’s currently clear that you look at or near often – above where your computer lives is a good one for office inspiration – or in a child’s bedroom for their artwork or even the living area. Having it above your desk makes it easy to take a quick glance when your working or crafting and can give you a quick smile.
Cut the twine to the length you would like and tie a loop in one end, slide it onto the pin and tighten. Repeat for the other end of the twine. Take one pin and push it into the wall (or cork board). Take the other pin and pull firmly on the twine so that it makes a straight line, and push the other pin into the wall where you want the line to end. The twine shouldn’t droop too much or it will be harder for it to hold the load.
Then decide what order your inspiration to hang up and add one piece at a time! Use your mini pegs to keep them in place. Smaller items may only need one peg, but heavier ones are better off with two. Take a step back once you’ve finished and see how it looks. You can move your items around until you’re happy with their positioning or even add more than one line.
The great thing about these is that you can change them as often as you like and they don’t cost a whole lot to make! It’s great for indecisive people or if you’re working on lots of different projects in quick succession. It could be a fun way of colour matching or idea planning too. It might even be a way to hang your advent calendar items. I love to keep special cards on mine and quotes that keep me on track.
Do you have an inspiration hanging wire in your home? Is it something you’d like to try? I’d love to hear!
If you do try this, I’d love to see a photo or hear about how it went! Tweet me your pics at: @danniellecresp or instagram me at: @dannielle with the hashtag: #styleaminimakeover
