Wrapping season is nearly upon us organised (and hope-to-be organised) folks, so I thought I’d share 3 more quick and easy wrapping ideas that look great and will take some pressure off when it comes time to get wrapping gifts. Here are three that I shared last year, if you’re looking for more fun ideas.
Wrapping idea 1:
What you’ll need:
- Old road maps This is an old Melways
- Sticky Tape for taping the edges
- Scissors for trimming
- Optional: Gift Tags or Marker for labeling the gifts
Perfect for small gifts and for travellers
How to:
- Find a map page that is of a built up area or one that means something to the person you’re giving the gift to. Pull it out and neaten the edges with scissors. If your gift is too large for one map attach maps together to wrap completely
- Choose which map will be the top and outside, make sure it’s up the correct way and place that face down
- Place gift face down (where possible), wrap the paper length ways and fix with sticky tape at the back
- Tuck in the corners at the short sides creating a triangle shape at the top and bottom of each end. Then fold triangle where the two ends meet in first, followed by the solid triangle. Fold the tips in if needed. Fix with sticky tape and repeat for the other side
- Add a gift tag if necessary and your gift is good to go!
Wrapping idea 2:
What you’ll need:
- Tissue Paper cute pattern or plain
- Cylinder or Poster Tube for keeping the gift secure
- 5mm Satin Ribbon for the edges
- Scissors for cutting to size
- Sticky Tape for fixing the tissue paper
Great for posters and surprise sweets
How to:
- Place your gift inside the cylinder or poster tube and seal if necessary
- Get some tissue paper that is at least 120mm wider than the cylinder or poster tube and that would wrap around it at least twice and place the tissue paper flat on a table, pattern on the outside
- Take the cylinder or poster tube and place it on the tissue paper at the straight edge of the tissue paper in the centre so there is an even amount of tissue paper showing at each end (at least 60mm each end)
- Roll the cylinder or poster tube and the tissue paper towards the other straight edge until you reach it and fix with sticky tape
- Cut two pieces of the satin ribbon at 260mm lengths and set aside for a moment
- Take one end of the tissue paper and very gently, as not to tear it, twist it and tie with one of the pieces of ribbon with a double knot. Repeat for the other side. Hooray your gift is ready to go!
Wrapping idea 3:
What you’ll need:
- Brown Kraft Paper available usually by the roll
- Patterned Duct Tape or Washi Tape for the accent
- Scissors for cutting to size
- Sticky Tape for fixing the tissue paper
- Optional: Gift Tags or Marker for labeling the gifts
Great for any occasion, you can choose a tape to suit the celebration
How to:
- Measure and cut enough brown paper to cover your gift
- Place gift face down (where possible), wrap the paper length ways and fix with sticky tape at the back
- Tuck in the corners at the short sides creating a triangle shape at the top and bottom of each end. Then fold triangle where the two ends meet in first followed by the solid triangle. Fold the tips in if needed. Fix with sticky tape and repeat for the other side
- Line up your tape so that it is approximately 20mm in from the straight edge and is parallel to the edge, with enough extra tape at the top so that the tape ends are at the back. Don’t cut the tape off the roll until you have finished
- Stick it down at the front first, then move up and over to the back to stick the top end of the tape. Then come back to the front and wrap the tape around the lower edge and follow it back to where the top started and cut it from the roll
- Finally, check that it’s all stuck down, add a gift tag if needed and your gift is ready!
Thoughts on the projects:
These are fun and simple ways that you can add a little more of your personality to your wrapping without going overboard. The items are easy to pick up during your grocery shop if you don’t already have them. These are a little more complex than the original 3 I shared, but don’t take too much more time.
What’s your favourite quick and easy way to wrap a gift? Do you have a favourite?

I really love the minimalistic approach you have. I really love the first and the third idea. Well done!
