It’s taken me a long time to work out what my fashion style is. In my late teens/early 20s I bought whatever the surf shops were stocking that season, even if they weren’t a great fit for me. Then I moved into the lost years of trying out “young corporate” and I didn’t really do that so well either. But in the last couple of years I’ve really started to work out what I like to wear and what looks good on me, and I think it’s finally time to start adding more of those pieces to my wardrobe. I’m heading to the US in January, and what better time to shop for new clothes. Here’s what’s on my new wardrobe wish list!
The Basics
New jeans and some plain long sleeve tops and tees are definitely on my shopping list. I have loved the Levis Curve ID jean in the past and would love to get some more in the skinny leg. I’ve changed shape quite a bit in the last year so I will need to try on a few pairs to see which suits me best. I also love some good layers, so I might need to add some more cardigans or jumpers (sweatshirts) too!

Exercise Gear
This wouldn’t have been on my list in the past, but now that exercise is a priority in my life, it’s time to add more than 2 outfits to my collection so that my washine machine doesn’t feel like it’s running non-stop. I love lululemon gear, but I’m also looking at some of those Australian made Dharma Bums leggings for Crossfit. New shoes are also a must whilst I’m in the US, as the prices are easier on the wallet than in Aus.

Shoes
My wardrobe is sadly lacking shoes at the moment. I have one pair of Chuck Taylors and a pair of Keds Ballet Flats, some sparkly Melissa flats and a stack of Havianas. Nothing really cool weather appropriate and the Keds I bought in 2008. It’s time to add some more shoes with my personality, especially ones that can be dressed up or down. I love shoes that work with a range of outfits. I’m not sure what I’ll find when I’m shopping but I’d love some hi-tops and another cute pair of ballet flats or two!

Dresses
Dresses are where I started to find what suits me and I already have a few that I love and are rotated often. I love these 3 in particular, but I’ll no doubt be adding some more as more dress-worthy events come up. These aren’t really on my shopping list just now, as I have them already, but they do make a great foundation for the new wardrobe.
My budget for this trip isn’t very big, so I’m not sure how much I’ll actually get for my money, but I love that I’m now thinking about what I’d love in my wardrobe and how I can add to it over time. I really love pattern and colour but I’m also a fan of dark blue jeans and a black top. As I work from home most of the time I love to keep things simple and comfortable but I also want to feel good in them.
Here’s to finding some gems that will help kickstart my new wardrobe that is much more me!
