A Trip to the Robert Gordon Factory Outlet

By Dannielle on November 17, 2015

Last Friday I organised to use the car for the day and after a PR event I decided to make the trip out to the Robert Gordon Factory outlet. Before I go any further, I wasn’t asked to write this or given anything in return, I just love a good bargain and to support Australian businesses and I wanted to share some of the goodies I picked up. It’s out in Pakenham, which is in South East Victoria.

I follow them on instagram and had seen that they’re having a 30% off sale on everything in the shop, so I decided to give myself a budget of $50 and whilst I could have spent so much more, I was delighted with what I came away with.

It was an hour’s drive from St Kilda, but the GPS got me there without too much trouble. It’s a real factory outlet in an industrial area, so be ready for some giant trucks coming in and out of the factory next door. The shop is lovely and spacious and has plenty of room for you to move around in and take some time to see what’s on offer. Robert Gordon are known for their beautiful ceramics and they had so many of them on display and at great prices.

Some of the pieces are samples and seconds and others are clearance. The quality of the pieces I brought home are fantastic. In the end I bought:

  • 6 ice cream bowls in red and white stripes (70c each with discount);
  • 6 candy bowls in pastel stripes (also 70c each with discount);
  • an ice cream scoop ($3.50 with discount);
  • a giant Happy Jackson Cake Tin ($11.17 with discount);
  • a large ice pack ($3.50 with discount) and;
  • a gorgeous box set gift (not pictured, $10.50 with discount).

Coming to $37.07 – well under budget and they gave me a big box and wrapped all the ceramics to get them home safely.

The only downside is that it was such a lovely shopping experience I wish I could make it more of a regular place to visit. It’s about an hour from my home, but now that it’s on my radar, I’ll be sure to check it out again the next time I need some great ceramics and homewares. I love that places like these give you the chance to buy beautiful things and wonderful gifts that might have been out of your price range before and you’re supporting their business by buying from them.

If you’re in Victoria and are looking to visit:

Robert Gordon Factory Outlet
114 Mulcahy Rd, Pakenham
Open 7 days. 9-5pm Mon-Sat. 10-4pm Sun.

They also offer a paint your own pottery, and have a cafe if you’re looking to make a day of it. For details on how long the sale is on for and what they have in stock, check out their instagram.

For now I’ll be enjoying my goodies and checking out their lovely instagram account until I can make another trip out there. I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the trip, but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely a local gem!

Have you been? Do you love ceramics and homewares like I do?
