Happy Saturday! It’s week 3 already! This week I wanted to share something cool that happened recently. These Saturday posts aim to be short and sweet and a little bit behind-the-scenes, so you can find out a little more about what goes on around here at HQ and in my Happy Home. You can join in too if you like. There aren’t any prompts and it doesn’t have to be a Saturday, just one thing worth taking a photo of that makes your home feel happy this week (or anytime really).
I don’t usually enter competitions. I get a bit lost for words when it comes to the ‘describe in 25 words or less’ thingos, but I saw that the lovely Kate of Kate Says Stuff was having a gift card giveaway recently thanks to the people at Masters Home Improvement and she wanted to know what outdoor DIY would you like to do. And because I love a good DIY I told her about my want to do up my lawn furniture that is in need of some love and a fresh coat of paint, and somehow I WON! (I never win anything so this was so exciting!!)
It arrived last week, so I waited impatiently for the weekend and headed on down to my local Masters to take a good look around and see what was in my gift card budget. It has quite different stock to other home improvement places so after reminding myself that I already have all the power tools I need (not even kidding), I headed to the paint section and grabbed some drop sheets, some disposable painters suits and all the goodies pictured above.
I had fun choosing the spray paint colours that I wanted the most (the orange is for a big DIY that I’m hoping to do when the weather finally gets more summery). Since it was a gift card, I treated my self to the chalkboard spray paint which was more expensive than the regular ones (but so worth it)! I had heard of the frog tape on Sarah from Dodeline Design’s blog and she recommended it quite highly, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Now I have the tools to create lots of fun DIYs for this blog like these and and some great colours for the ones that come into my head in the future. (I’m still on the look out for this blog’s shade of pink, but I’m loving the awesome Kermie green).
It was really fun to be able to go shopping and not worry about whether I should really be buying that right now, and that I’ve now got these things in my home guilt free! Bring on the Summer DIYs!
Thanks so much to Kate and Masters for the gift card! It was such a thrill to win and I love my goodies that I picked up with it! You’ve made this girl very happy with your generosity!
So, now it’s over to you. What’s making you happy in your home this week? You can join in on Twitter (@danniellecresp) or Instagram (@dannielle) with the hashtag #inmyhappyhome or share a pic with the new facebook page or blog about it and leave your link below.
Have a lovely weekend. x
