Hello! Happy Saturday! Lovely to see you! I’ve been thinking for a while about adding a photography challenge to Style for a Happy Home, and at first I thought I’d start it in January and do a grand 52 weeks project – and then I remembered that I’m not always great at them. The first few weeks are great, then I get busy or forgetful or something equally silly like that. So I thought I’d try one for November and (maybe) December and see if it sticks. There are only 9 Saturdays left in the year (including this one) after all.
These Saturday posts aim to be short and sweet and a little bit behind-the-scenes, so you can find out a little more about what goes on around here at HQ (which is just a little home office for now but I have grand plans) and in my Happy Home. You can join in too if you like. There aren’t any prompts and it doesn’t have to be a Saturday, just one thing worth taking a photo of that makes your home feel happy this week (or anytime really). Let’s get to it!
I’m not much of a baker (you’ll soon find out why) so on a whim I decided to bake a cake for reaching 10,000 Pinterest followers on November 1. It’s a silly reason to bake a cake really, but for me it symbolises reaching the first crazy goal I set after coming back from my time in North America much earlier than planned. It was such a big, silly goal back in May when I had the 1,000 followers (it had taken me 2.5 years to get) that I didn’t tell anyone that I wanted 10k by Christmas. My silly little secret. (But somehow I got there nearly 2 months early! Crazy!)
The cake was a bit of a mess. I ran out of sugar, I only just had enough vanilla essence, I didn’t have any icing sugar (which I totally could have bought when I walked to the servo for the sugar – but I didn’t think of it) for the icing and it had a burnt edge! I also lost half a packet of 100s and 1000s on the floor when the bag burst open. But I still love it and it still makes me happy.
I’m not the greatest at celebrating my achievements so this over-the-top response to this goal is really just a bit of fun. I’m excited that people are loving what I enjoy pinning and I can’t wait to see if it grows further. Sometimes it’s in reaching the goals that you thought were silly, that helps you keep on track for the big things.
So, now it’s over to you. What’s making you happy in your home this week? You can join in on Twitter (@danniellecresp) or Instagram (@dannielle) with the hashtag #inmyhappyhome or share a pic with the new facebook page or blog about it and leave your link below.
Have a lovely weekend. x
